The required components
required are:
70LPM Compressor (35LPM
pump will also do)
7m extension hose
7m normal tyre hose
Y-piece kit (as per photo)
Tarp to work on.
Rubber Mallet.
Bead Lube
Paint Brush or soft cloth
Ratchet Strap
Valve Remover
Method
The Y-piece have a quick
release to connect to the pump via the white hose, quick release to connect the
black hose to the tyre and a fixed hose with a closed chuck press
connector. The white hose is there to
allow for more movement (7m) and flexibility.
The black hose is the hose that is normally used with the compressor to
inflate a tyre.
The spare is inflated to
4.5 to 5 bar before going on a trip. It
can also be inflated to this pressure with the compressor.
Remove the tyre from the vehicle. Clean the tyre and rim properly while
working on the tarp. Using the rubber mallet try to make sure that the one bead
is as secure as possible. Apply some bead lube with a paintbrush around the
tyre bead. Tie a ratchet strap around
the tyre and tighten to push the bead against the rim. Connect the white hose
between the compressor and the y-piece.
Remove the inner valve from the debeaded tyre. Connect the black hose to
the outlet of the y-piece and the debeaded tyre. Start the compressor. Air
is now pumped into the flat tyre only.
Press the closed chuck against the pressurized spare. The chuck will open and air will rush form
the high pressure of the spare to the debeaded tyre. It might require for the tyre to be shaken a bit to rebead properly.
Remove hose connected to
valve and re-insert inner valve.
Continue inflation with the compressor to desired pressure.
Warning: Check with your tyre manufacturer on the maximum allowed tyre pressure under zero load weight.
