Legends 2004 - Part 6

Day 8 - 9 April (The day of dispair !)

Our destination for the day is to find the shortest possible escape route out. We were 200 meters from a cutline that runs directly west. But ! There was still a lot of mud between our campsite and the cutline. This had to be conquered first !

However ! The previous day and evening's antics in the mud claimed its victims. Dave Lehr had a flat after the late night recovery (the snow chains was what got him out in the end...) and Dave Immelman had some damage from reversing into a tree. Jakes discovered that he has a broken engine mounting. These had to be repaired first before we could attempt an escape from where we were.

With the repairs done and everyone packed we charged through the mud for the cutline. Willem and Johan chose the driest route. Somehow Jakes, myself, Jacque and Mike ended up back in the mud. It was fun all over again and Jakes was the only one who made it through...

Jakes towed me out and then I towed out Jacque. Then Jakes towed out Mike.

At least all vehicles were out in the cutline now and on dry ground. The problem however was that we were completely surrounded by damp clay. We parked under the nearest boabab to consider our options. It was time for tribal council. It appeared as if the Huntersroad wasn't keen to release us.
